Please note that the AIS Track & Field Athletics League is open to all athletes within the UAE. The ‘League’ will consist of track & field athletics events that will take place at 4 different competitions throughout 2021 – 2022. Following this we will host the AIS Athletics championship where medals will be distributed to champions from each event.

Covid Vaccination

All staff, volunteers & children aged 16 and over will need evidence of full vaccination, and must present if requested.

Masks

Masks must be worn at all times by all staff & volunteers. Competitors are allowed to take off their mask to compete but must wear their mask at all other times.

League Structure

The AIS Athletics League is made up of 4 competitions. At each competition there will be points up for grabs for each age group. To win points you need to place in the top 10 within an event. Each athlete can do a maximum of 5 events per competition.

Points

1st place – 10 points

2nd place – 8 points

3rd place – 6 points

4th place – 5 points

Please note that as there will be heats in certain age groups points are awarded based on fastest times.

Age groups

Please ensure your child enters the correct age group. We will be checking this and if a child is registered for the wrong age group they will unfortunately be disqualified.

Senior – Adults ages 20 years or over on the day of the competition

U20 - Children aged 17 years old to 20 years old on the day of the competition

U17 - Children aged 15 years and 16 years old on the day of the competition

U15 - Children aged 13 years and 14 years old on the day of the competition

U13 - Children aged 11 years and 12 years old on the day of the competition

U11 - Children aged 9 years old to 10 years old on the day of the competition

Senior – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

U20 – 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

U17 - 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

U15 - 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

U13 - 80m, 150m, 600m, 1000m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

U11 - 60m, 150m, 600m, 1000m, Long jump, High jump, Shot put, Javelin

Heats, Finals, & Point Scoring

There might be heats for each event, but points will only be awarded to the fastest times.

One false start disqualification rule will be implemented.

Field Events

Each athlete is entitled to 3 attempts in the long jump, shot put & javelin.

Medals

There will only be medals awarded at the final league competition once all the points have been collected.

Footwear & Kit

Please wear your school or club kit.

Spikes will be allowed for all age groups.

Food & Water

Please bring plenty of water and some snacks.

Bibs

Each athlete competing will be given bib numbers & pins on the first day. Please keep your number safe for all league competitions. Replacement bibs will cost 50AED.

Staff will be on hand to help athletes pin the bibs onto the vests.
