Does my child need to be physically fit to train? We welcome young athletes of all abilities. However your child must be fit to train and participate when arriving at the session. Individual rehabilitation plans can be put in place for some athletes; however, this must be discussed in advance. If an athlete cannot take part, they should remain at home. Illness or injury on day of training - Remain at home and recover Recovering from illness - Make sure you are non-contagious and are fit enough to train Recovering from Injury - Inform the coach at the start of the session, for long term injuries discuss rehab options with coach.

Can my child participate in athletics competitions?AIS organizes 6-8 competitions across the year, where our athletes can compete amongst other local clubs. These take place at a number of venues, but most will be at GEMS World Academy and Swiss International school. The competitions are an opportunity for the athletes to test themselves against the some of the best athletes in Dubai, but most importantly….to have fun! Whether at an AIS competition or elsewhere, we want to encourage and not discourage athletes from participating in and enjoying sport. We love to create a positive atmosphere and want parents, siblings and team members to shout and cheer for the athletes. However, over-zealous or aggressive shouts from the crowd, either towards officials or athletes, notably from parents are not acceptable. This is not the Olympics, if you disagree with a decision, you are welcome to discuss this with the official, but then move on and put it right at the next competition. Whilst we understand that emotions can run high and there may be questions for the coaches, officials or volunteers. Any offensive or abusive language towards the team will result in immediate removal from the venue, a potential suspension for the individual (athlete or parent) or even a ban from future competitions.
